It is possible to display images and gifs on the Busy Tag with either the official Busy Tag app or the partner software - the Luxafor app. The Busy Tag app offers more customizability for the visuals and easier controls, while the Luxafor app provides more functionality for different integrations, such as Microsoft Teams, Email notifications, Zapier automation, and others.
The required format for the visuals
The Busy Tag screen can display PNG images and GIFs.
The visuals should have a resolution of 240x280px and a size not larger than 1MB.
You can convert gifs to fit the Busy Tag format here. The converter can be accessed in the main menu of the busy-tag.com website under “Make a GIF”.
We have prepared a library of pre-made gifs that are already converted to fit the Busy Tag format. You can choose to use our gif library to avoid creating and converting your own gifs. The library is available here, and also from the Busy Tag product page.
Display custom visuals with the Busy Tag app
Open the Busy Tag app, enter the Designs tab (left menu), and click Add Item.
In the Display tab (top of the screen) upload your visual in the “Upload a file” window.
It is recommended to upload a visual that fits the required format described above (PNG or GIF, 240x280px, <1MB).
For gifs, use the gif converter to format the gif correctly or choose a gif from our pre-made gif library.
For images, make sure the image is PNG or GIF, 240x280px, <1MB.
Add text, and choose its font, size, weight, color, and position. You can also choose to not add any text.
Click on the LEDs tab (top of the app) and choose the color for the LED glow.
Click on “Save” (top right corner) and choose a name for the visual.
It will appear in the Designs tab (left menu). To display the created visual, click on the play button next to it and wait for the file to load and display.
Display custom visuals with the Luxafor app
Install the Luxafor app, and follow the setup instructions.
Upload the visual according to the specifications on the Busy Tag device as you would on a USB drive through your computer’s file manager.
Make sure the file is named “Custom” and fits the format described above (size, format, etc).
For gifs, use either the gif converter or choose a gif from our library.
For images, make sure the image is PNG or GIF, 240x280px, <1MB.
Once the file is uploaded, you can display it by selecting “Custom color” in the Solid Color tab.
Note: when selecting a solid color, the Busy Tag will display an image with the corresponding color name from its storage. For example, clicking “Blue” will display the image named “Blue” from the Busy Tag’s storage. Therefore, you can upload custom images and display them by selecting the solid color options as long as the image file names match the color names in the Solid Colors tab.
